By Amaelle Caron

“Panic! At the Disco” is an American rock band that has been around for more than 10 years.

The band was created in 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band signed on to the Fueled by Ramen record label.

Their music is defined as rock; although they experimented with other styles over the years such as pop, alternative, and baroque pop.

They split up many times through the years, replaced musicians, and dealt with members leaving.

Their first album “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” came out in 2005 and their first single “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” was a huge success at its release.

The YouTube video of the song has more than a hundred thousand views. This album was certified double platinum in the U.S. in 2006.

After many successes, like the song “Nine in the Afternoon” in 2008 or “This is Gospel” in 2013, the band is back with a brand new album.

“Panic! At the Disco” just released its fourth album on Jan.15, after all the members left except for the lead singer Brendon Urie.

For this album the band decided to put all their videos on the Internet before releasing the album.

The album is named “The Death of a Bachelor” it is composed of eleven songs with various styles. It is the first album written and composed by Urie and his team of writers.

The first single of this album, “Hallelujah” was released April 20, 2015 without any form of previous announcement.

It debuted at number 40 at the Billboard Hot 100, their second highest debut on the chart since “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”.

Their second single was released Oct.22, 2015 five months after the release of their first single. “Victorious” was announced through the band’s Facebook page with the date of the release of the upcoming album “Death of a Bachelor” at the time.

The third single released for this album was “The Emperor’s New Clothes” a rock song with strong lyrics such as “welcome to the end eras”.

The music video is like a sequel to the music video “This is Gospel”, in the video the protagonist becomes a demon.

Some other songs like “The Death of the Bachelor” is more of a slow song with deep meaning such as commitment and how being committed can take your freedom away and create a feeling of frustration.

The singer relates to his personal life and how he feels about marriage.

This album will make you want to dance, make you go crazy and make you want to cry.

Whether you like rock or not this album is worth giving it a try.
