Volleyball sweeps past Pratt

The Lady Dragon volleyball team played at home against Pratt on Oct. 19 and won.

The scores were 25-22, 25-18, and 25-15.

The Dragons’ record is now 23-6 overall and 11-1 in the Jayhawk West Conference.

Jai Chapman, Liberal, lead the Dragons with 10 kills and one block assist.

Petra Silic, Zagreb, Croatia, ended the night with five kills and five blocks.

Aubrey Wilson, Bennington, had four blocks, three service aces, and 20 set assists.

The Dragons out-hit their opponents 37-32 and had six service aces.

The first set started off with Pratt scoring the first three points.

Pratt kept the lead until Hutch scored five-straight points.

The score was 13-11.

Pratt matched Hutch point for point, but the Dragons stayed ahead each time.

The Dragons won the set 25-22.

As the second set started, Hutch took a 9-5 lead.

Their lead kept growing until the end of the set when they won 25-18.

The third set started off like the first with Pratt scoring the first few points.

The Dragons took the lead back after an 8-2 run.

The score was 9-7.

Hutch continued to keep the lead as the set went on.

The Dragons lead kept growing until they were 10 points ahead.

The ending score was 25-15.

Hutch won the match overall after winning all three sets.

Over the last week, the Dragons beat Garden City and Cloud County.

Hutch beat Garden City easily in three sets.

Cloud County took the Dragons into four sets, but Hutch was still able to win the match.

The Dragons are scheduled to play in the Jefferson Tournament in Hillsboro, Missouri, on Oct. 23-24.

Hutch plays against Jefferson College, Friday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m.
